Room to Spread Out, Floors to Match
Epoxy flooring in Rendon tends to involve more square footage than a typical suburban job. Rendon is a census-designated place, not a city, and its roughly 13,500 residents (2020 census) are spread across about 24.7 square miles. That works out to far more land per home than in nearby cities, and many properties have oversized garages, detached workshops or barns with concrete floors. Garage floor epoxy is still the core of what we do here, but shop floors are a close second.
From cotton gins to commuter homes
Rendon was first known as Cross Roads. A post office opened in 1891 under the name Rendon, after Joaquin Rendon, the original land grant holder. For most of the 1900s it stayed a small farming community, with about 90 residents through the 1970s and 1980s. Commercial development along Interstate 35W and the growth of Fort Worth changed that in the 1990s, and the population passed 9,000 by 2000. The result is a mix of older rural slabs and newer homes, sometimes on the same road.
Coating a detached shop
A shop floor sees things a garage never does: rolling floor jacks, welding spatter, dropped tools, tractor tires and fluids from mowers and trucks. We size the system to that use:
- Thicker epoxy builds for heavy equipment
- Chemical-resistant topcoats for oil, hydraulic fluid and fuel
- Flake broadcast or aggregate for traction
- Light colors that make a big room brighter for close work
Metallic epoxy is popular for owners who want a shop or man cave that looks finished rather than industrial.
Homeowners who are settled in
Rendon's homeownership rate is high. Census estimates show 84.8% of homes are owner-occupied, with a median value of $362,600, and 92.3% of residents lived in the same house a year earlier. The median age in 2020 was 42.8, and 63.9% of households were married couples. People who have settled on a property for the long term often want a floor that will last as long as they do, and that is the kind of system we recommend.
No city hall, different rules
Because Rendon is unincorporated, there is no city building department. In unincorporated Tarrant County, the County Fire Marshal requires construction permits for new commercial buildings, public access buildings and multifamily housing of four or more units. Coating a floor in an existing home or private shop is not new construction, but if you are building a new commercial structure or a shop that will be open to the public, check county requirements first. Some subdivisions also have their own deed restrictions or HOA rules.
Patios and outdoor slabs
Larger lots often mean larger patios and long walkways. We use UV-stable outdoor systems for these, not interior epoxy, and add texture for safe footing around pools and outdoor kitchens.
Getting started
Call (817) 904-2240 to set up a free estimate. For big garages and shops, we measure on site, check the slab for moisture and damage and give you a written quote with each step listed. We price each floor after measuring it, and large open shop floors can come in lower per foot because of their size.

Rendon Questions
Rendon isn't a city. Who do I check with about permits?
Unincorporated Tarrant County has no city building department. The County Fire Marshal handles construction permits for new commercial, public access and larger multifamily buildings. Coating an existing private garage or shop is generally not new construction, but check with the county if your project includes building something new, and look at any deed restrictions on your lot.
Can you coat a large detached shop or barn floor?
Yes. Big open slabs are a good fit for epoxy. We check for moisture, since outbuilding slabs are not always poured over a vapor barrier, and we build the coating thicker where heavy equipment will sit or roll.
My shop slab is older and has never been sealed. Is that a problem?
Not usually. Unsealed concrete grinds well and takes a coating readily. Deep oil soaks and wide cracks need treatment first, and we will show you what we find during the estimate.
