Finishing Off a Newer Midlothian Home
Much of our epoxy flooring in Midlothian goes into newer homes. The city grew from 18,037 people in 2010 to 35,125 in 2020, an increase of 94.7%, and the Census estimates about 46,683 residents as of July 2025. Many of those homes come with a bare, plain gray garage slab. Garage floor epoxy is usually the first upgrade owners ask about, and in a new home it is a chance to start with clean concrete and a coating that keeps it that way.
Higher-end homes, higher expectations
Midlothian's numbers stand out in the area. Census estimates for 2020 to 2024 show a median owner-occupied home value of $411,800, a median household income of $126,641 and a 79.7% owner-occupied rate, with 3.01 people per household. Owners here often want more than a basic floor. We install full-broadcast flake systems with polyaspartic topcoats, solid-color systems for workshops, and metallic epoxy floors for garages that double as a car display space, home gym or game room.
New slabs still need prep
A new slab is not automatically ready for coating. Builders often leave a smooth, troweled surface, curing compounds or sealers that block adhesion. We diamond-grind every slab to open the surface, test for moisture, and fill shrinkage cracks before coating. If your home is very new, we check the moisture level to make sure the slab has cured enough.
Concrete country
Midlothian is the hub of the North Texas cement industry. Three of the ten largest cement plants in the United States operate here: Martin Marietta Materials, Holcim and Ash Grove, along with a Gerdau steel mill. The reason is geology. The Austin Chalk Escarpment runs north to south through the city and made the area a prime limestone quarry site. North Texas clay soils can move with moisture, so we pay attention to cracks even on recent construction.
Space to work with
The city covers about 63.50 square miles of land in northwestern Ellis County, at about 781 feet elevation, roughly 25 miles southwest of Dallas at the junction of US 67 and US 287. Larger lots often mean three-car garages, detached shops and big back patios. We coat all of them: epoxy flake floors for shops, UV-stable patio and outdoor concrete coatings for back slabs, and commercial and warehouse floor epoxy for businesses in industrial areas like Railport on US 67.

Midlothian Questions
My Midlothian home is brand new. How soon can the garage be coated?
The slab must be cured and dry enough to bond. We test moisture before we schedule the coating. If the reading is too high, we will tell you to wait rather than risk bubbling or peeling later.
Why grind a new garage floor? It looks smooth already.
Smooth is the problem. Builder slabs are often hard-troweled or treated with curing compounds, which leave little for a coating to grip. Grinding opens the surface so the base coat can soak in and bond.
Is metallic epoxy practical in a garage?
It can be, especially in a garage that is used more for display, a gym or entertaining than for daily parking. Metallic floors show scratches and dust more than flake floors, so for a daily-driver garage we usually suggest flake with a polyaspartic topcoat.
Can you coat a detached shop or a large patio on my lot?
Yes. Detached shops usually get a flake or solid-color epoxy system. Patios get a UV-stable outdoor coating with grit for traction. We can quote everything in one visit.
